 CHILDCARE AND DAYCARE
CLiF likes to reach as many children as possible whenever we visit towns across Vermont and New Hampshire. One of the ways we do this is by sponsoring local childcare centers and home daycares in towns when the local public library has received a Rural Library Sponsorship. CLiF asks the town’s librarian to nominate one daycare in the nearby area for a sponsorship. Not only does this allow CLiF to reach more of the town’s children, but it gives a wonderful opportunity to the librarian to make a connection with a local daycare that they may not otherwise had a relationship with previously.
Every daycare or childcare center that is nominated by a library will receive:
- Books for an On-Site Library: CLiF donates a collection of new high-quality children’s books to help create an on-site library at the daycare/childcare center.
- Books for Children to Keep: Each child in the daycare/childcare is able to select some new children’s books from a large collection that CLiF brings to the special storytelling event.
- Storytelling Presentation: CLiF representatives hold a presentation to deliver new books, tell stories, and talk about the joys of words, books and reading. It is preferable that the presentations are held in the town library, but CLiF representatives will travel to the daycare/childcare sites if need be as transportation to and from these sites can sometimes be difficult.
