CONFERENCES For most librarians, conferences provide a valuable opportunity to share ideas and innovations, network, spend time with like-minded professionals, and then return to work energized and inspired. But most library conferences focus on the issues relevant to larger, better-funded libraries. That's why CLiF hosts annual conferences tailored to the unique needs of rural librarians and bookmobile coordinators in New Hampshire and Vermont, addressing the specific challenges they face operating in small towns with limited budgets. CLiF conferences usually include: Panel Discussions: These are kicked off by a panel of experts who speak briefly on a particular subject, then much of the time is spent in a give-and-take discussion with audience members. Past topics have included: Turning Your Library Into a Community Center; Proven Tips for Grantwriting Success; and Effective and Low-cost Programming. Networking Opportunities: Time is allotted for breaks throughout the day for attendees to mingle and chat.
